Lage:

The vacation resort of S’Illot is located on the east coast of Mallorca, between the municipalities of Sant Llorenç des Cardassar and Manacor. The natural border is formed by the Ca n’Amer stream, where the watercourses from the Calicant mountains near Sant Llorenç join and finally flow into the sea at Son Carrió.

S’Illot consists of a residential and a hotel area, but these buildings were not the first in the area. In the center of the village, near the sea, there is an important archaeological site. It is one of the most important in Mallorca, both for its monumental diversity and its long historical development. The oldest finds date back to 2200 BC and the settlement existed at least until Roman times in the 2nd century BC. A newly opened visitor center provides insights into the everyday life of the inhabitants of that time and is definitely worth a visit.

A walk through S’Illot offers the opportunity to enjoy the bridge over the stream, a small shipyard with traditional fishing boats (llaüts) at the southern end of the beach and the view of the small island (in Catalan: Illot) that gave this place its name.

The Platja de S’Illot beach is located in the area and is very quiet. Here you can watch the fishermen on the rocks early in the morning or at sunset and see children playing on the beach in the evening light. Tourist accommodation is located close to the beach and there are numerous stores and restaurants. S’Illot can also be reached by tourist train and a cycle path connects the village with Sa Coma in the north as well as Porto Cristo and Manacor.

The town festival of S’Illot takes place at the end of August, with the highlight being the fireworks display, which can be admired from the beach.
