In the northeast of Mallorca is the dreamy little town of Son Servera, in a region known as Llevant.
The place has retained much of its original appearance. On market days you can still meet Mallorquins, who sit in the cafés on the market square in front of the church and watch the hustle and bustle.
The „Iglesia Nova“ is a special attraction. After all, it is a very special building that you don’t see every day.
Its history began as early as 1905. Architect Joan Rubió i Bellver, a student of Antoni Gaudí, was commissioned to build it. However, due to funding problems, the church, designed in a neo-Gothic style, was never completed.
When hearing the name of this town, golfers certainly think of the local golf course: Son Servera Golf is the second oldest golf course in Mallorca and was opened in the 1960s as a 9-hole course, but was expanded to 18 holes in 2012. Other golf courses in Canyamel and Capdepera are easily accessible from here.
Cala Millor also belongs to the municipality of Son Servera with its long sandy beach, which lies between the smaller holiday resort of Cala Bona and the nature reserve Sa Punta de n’Amer.
From Son Son Servera you can quickly reach the pretty town of Artà by car. This town is popular for the lively weekly market on Tuesday mornings.
